::: ::: exactitudes ::: ::: Asian girls with their designer bags
Cardi-clad, geek-chic boys (aka Opening Ceremony employees)
Scarf-loving, short-haired emo chicks (aka Lower East Side hipsters)
• Photographer Ari Versluis and stylist Ellie Uyttenbroek’s ongoing project ‘Exactitudes’, is a project that photographs people in various ‘style tribes’ to show that individuality is, well, dead. Stylish folks whose style fit together are asked to pose in the same way which eventually makes them all blend together. So-called ’sub-culture’ groups like goths, punks and emos who define themselves as ‘individual’ and ‘different’ end up allying themselves into something that makes them no different at all. Pete Wentz is not original, folks! Please! The existing Exactitudes photographs are now on display at Selfridges. ::: ::: fop finds ::: :::

• At a certain point, a shoe stops being a shoe and becomes a work of art—like when it's made from stingray and python skins, embedded with semiprecious stones and crystals, and amazes from every angle. By these guidelines, Chrissie Morris' shoes are veritable masterpieces, but the last thing she wants them to be is precious. "I want to create something that's unusual, yet feminine and easy to wear," Morris explains. "My shoes are for women like me, my mother, my sister—strong women with strong personalities, who like beautiful things." [via jc]

• A-Ron just opened a new boutique on the LES, called The Wreck Center. Here's what the NY Times had to say about the shop: Residents of a sleepy SoHo block aren’t sure what to make of the Wreck Center, a store/performance space/art installation that has invaded their neighborhood like a post-apocalyptic circus. Decorated with graffiti, gold paint and 5,800 feet of Day-Glo masking tape, the space, designed by Rafael de Cárdenas, pops, to say the least. “Finally one came up to me,” said Aaron Bondaroff, the project’s ringleader, “and told me it was about time someone did something cool in the neighborhood again.” Until the end of February, when the building that houses the Wreck Center is torn down, Mr. Bondaroff, the downtown impresario better known as A-Ron, has planned a series of invite-only book signings, launch parties, art and music shows, even a little stand-up comedy; a storefront will sell the wares of all involved. “And as soon as everyone catches on,” he said, “it’ll be over.” That is, until May, when the Playboy channel broadcasts a documentary on the whole affair. • Next May, the beginning of a lengthy collaboration between tokidoki and Onitsuka Tiger will give fans of both companies something to blog about. A blend of Italian artist Simone Legno’s modern characters and Onitsuka Tiger’s popular footwear, the two year-long collaboration will result in a steady stream of tokidoki love (that’s already been flying around like the herp, but we’re not gonna stop it) and will help both companies further spread the gospel of modern Japanese art. :: On the Wire ::

• To honor the 180th birthday of Francois Goyard, Goyard is releasing The Saint-Honore Clutch. The name of the clutch derived from the 1853 Paris flagship store located at Saint-Honore. This special edition clutch looks like a mini Goyard trunk, besides silver there are also black and white colorways and is about $4100.
• Kirsten Dunst is the new spokesmodel for Miu Miu’s Spring/Summer 2008 ad campaign. The campaign was shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott in Los Angeles back in November. Previous celebrity faces for the clothing line include Selma Blair, Kim Basinger, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Lindsay Lohan. • Scott Schuman – better known as The Sartorialist – has emerged over the last few years as the leading photographer of the blogosphere. He has taken some really compelling shots of people with great style around the world. With photos running on his own site as well as men.style.com and a column in GQ, Schuman has been selected as one of TIME Magazine's top 100 design influencers. Now an exhibition at the Danziger Projects Gallery highlights his work, not just as documentaries of fashion, but as art. “The photographs are artfully composed, light-infused, penetrating portraits of how fashion manifests itself in the real world as opposed to the runway - inclusive of all ethnicities, economic classes, age, and sex,” reads a press release. 521 West 26th Street, NYC. :: Frilly Thrill ::
• Martin Margiela ring at Harputs Market ($135).
• Bright yellow or cherry red, get this lollipop pendant necklace by Tatty Devine - a designer whose name sounds just as cheeky as her creations.
• If you are looking for quality headphones to block out ambient noise, these aren't them. This miniscule pair ($271usd) is meant to hug your ring finger, displaying your love of music and allowing you to take one element of the DJ booth everywhere you go. Of course, if you want the turntable, too, Darkcloud has your needs covered two times over. The Spraycan necklace is another favorite. [via spld]
• You picture the Marni woman as the type that works in an art gallery in Chelsea, knows her way around a serious 1,000 bottle plus wine list, and gracefully juggles uber cool motherhood with a bustling social schedule. Sorta. And though I have not yet come into my Marni years - or budget - I might just jump the gun and make every frock a Marni frock this season with these signature multicolored resin circle brooches. :: Artistic Finesse ::

• From graffiti on the streets to galleries to the School of Visual Arts, John Breiner has been around the block in the New York art scene. His more recent work is painted onto the end pages of old books, a way of spanning time by adding his modern expressions to a small part of history. Color and negative space are the two main aspects of his work, and he executes both very well. His site is packed with work so visit www.johnbreiner.com and get yourself a dose. • Guests can dance to the sounds of The Cool Kids: these two Chicago MCs put a new shine on old-school hip-hop with deliberate rhymes and bass-heavy, '80s-style beats. Antics abound as Chicago's up-and-coming MC Kid Sister mashes her fast and cheeky flow with a day-glo pop sound all her own. And turntablist prodigy and five-time world DJ champion A-Trak takes time out from touring with Kanye West to make a special appearance at One Step Beyond. And Cocktails keep the party going.

Surprise! My one and only got me this one and only original: First Love. Thank you. J While popping in and out of galleries and boutiques in the Mission of San Francisco, we were drawn to an artist/illustrator by the name of Hannah Stouffer (daughter of wildlife cinematographer, Marty). At Studio 3579, we were able to see, up close, original works by the artist hanging on the walls. Intricate, opulent, and densely packed with fresh and modern details while giving off a Victorian flair. Some other we like: My Darling and Trans-Am ~ Merry Christmas & Happy New Year ~ * | | |
